From Interview to Offer: What to Do the Moment You Get Accepted

The email arrives: "Congratulations, you have been offered a place…" Cue tears, screams, calls to family. It’s real—you did it. At ProjectDoctor, we’ve celebrated hundreds of these moments, and we’re celebrating yours too. Now what? Let’s make sure you finish strong and start your medical journey right.

Immediate next steps

  • Accept/decline promptly: UCAS portal—firm your first choice, insure the second.

  • Thank your referees & interviewers (email or note)—builds goodwill.

  • Tell your support network: Share the win with those who cheered you on.

  • Celebrate properly: Dinner, day out, something meaningful—mark this milestone.

Before results day / summer

  • Update your CV: Add interview experience, recent volunteering.

  • Stay engaged: Read one medical book/article per week (e.g., "This Is Going to Hurt").

  • Prep for medical school: Look at recommended summer reading (HYMS, Manchester lists).

  • Plan finances: Check student finance, accommodation deadlines.

Mindset for the transition

  • Imposter syndrome will creep in—normal. Remind yourself: "They chose me because I earned it."

  • Rest: You’ve earned a break—travel, work, recharge.

  • Stay connected: Join our alumni group, keep in touch with fellow offer-holders.

You’re not just getting a place—you’re stepping into your purpose. Every late night, every mock, every doubt led to this. ProjectDoctor is immensely proud of you. Breathe it in: you’re going to medical school. The journey ahead is big, but so are you. Welcome to the next chapter—you’re going to be incredible.
